FreeSO
A private FreeSO server.
You’ll need to register first. Unfortunately change password functionality is currently broken; hopefully it’ll be fixed in an upcoming build soon. Until then make sure to choose a secure password that you don’t use anywhere else!
Currently (due to a bug) your account needs to be activated manually by me (Wouter) before you can log in. Get in touch to get your account activated!
After registration and creating your Sim, you’ll start out with a budget of exactly §0. Contact me if you want some funds to start up your own lot, and I’ll grant you §20000 once. Just a reminder: you must create a Sim first!
Client configuration
First install the original client. The official installer will work and is the easiest to get all files in place. For best compatibility getting the client-653 build (which matches the current server version) may be needed. If the launcher automatically updates the client, you may run into compatibility problems.
If you’re on Mac or Linux, follow these instructions to
get the client to work. The most important part is mixing in the macextras zip file with the client
installation (overwriting existing files in the Documents/FreeSO
directory). The TSOClient files
from the original game should be placed in the Documents/The Sims Online/TSOClient
directory (such
that Documents/The Sims Online/TSOClient/TSOClient.exe
exists).
You need to launch the FreeSO client once so it generates some configuration files. Then, in the FreeSO
installation directory make some changes to the Content/config.ini
file. (using Notepad or another
text editor – use Run as Administrator for default installations on Windows). Change the GameEntryUrl
and
CitySelectorUrl
in this file by replacing their lines in the file as follows:
GameEntryUrl=https://freeso.simply-life.net
CitySelectorUrl=https://freeso.simply-life.net
If you like you can also enter your username in the LastUser
setting, for your own convenience.
All that’s left is running the game, logging in and having fun!

FreeSO updated to build 653 28 October 2018
The FreeSO server is now updated to build master-653. You must download the Client build 653 to be able to log in. I might fix the content patch stuff at some point, so the client can automatically update, but that’s not working yet.

The FreeSO server is now updated to build 646.
FreeSO up and running! 27 April 2018
A private FreeSO server is now up and running too! You can now register, have your account activated by me, create a Sim and then get some starting money from me.
